Grammy-Worthy Acceptance Speech

I’m so excited to have been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award! I was terrified that I wouldn’t fit into the blogger community at all, but this nomination is just the boost I needed to tell me I’m on the right track. I’m so honored to be able to pass on this excitement to the next list of nominees!

So basically the SBA is a way to help small time bloggers connect and gain exposure. By helping to build up other bloggers, we are all working towards making friendly connections and being part of a bigger community. Below are the steps for the nominees to follow:

·      Shout out to the blogger who nominated you with a link back to their blog
·      Answer the 11 questions given by the blogger nominating you
·      Nominate 11 more bloggers for the Sunshine Award, with links to their blogs
·      Don’t forget to notify your nominees!
·      Give 11 new questions for the nominees to answer
Participation is optional, but it's fun to do!

When and why did you start your blog?
I started my blog at the beginning of October 2017. I had been looking for ways to make money as a stay at home mom, and blogging came up a lot in my searches. I didn’t think I would have what it takes because I had abandoned writing when I left school. After researching blogging more, I decided to give it a shot. Even if I never make a dollar, I still love the whole experience. I get to live out my passions everyday and share my stories with others so we can connect through our struggles. It’s the message that became important.

Tell us a story from your first love.
It all started when I was eleven.
I met a boy in my 5th grade class; we’ll call him J. I loved him until I was about thirteen years old, although it felt I loved him for my whole life. The first time he ever kissed me was in 7th grade. We had the same reading class, and during one class period our teacher had put on Remember the Titans. We sat in the very back, talking, paying no attention to the movie. The teacher was turned around on her computer and couldn’t see us. He leans over and kisses me right on the lips, and I died right there and went to heaven. Young love makes quite an impact on the heart.

What is your dream house? Tell us the details.
The street is calm and quiet. Large trees line the curbs, and shade the walkway leading up to a wide covered porch. A tall wooden door brings you into the living room, where a picturesque front window frames the front yard. The colors are cool yet cozy, and the lighting is soft and natural. I have a room specifically for reading and writing, complete with an oversize, cushy chair. The bathroom is large, with a skylight allowing me to see the stars at night. The tub is deep AF and I can stretch my legs out for days. Next to the tub is a large cabinet filled with Lush products of all kinds. It’s the greatest collection of bath bombs, bubbles, masks and oils that the world has ever known. The backyard spans an acre, with a beautiful garden of my favorite flowers. We have a fire pit for when we have friends over to enjoy the summer night air. The grass is so perfect you could walk in it barefoot. I pay no bills, and life is beautiful.

How did you settle on the niche or aesthetic of your blog?
I wanted my blog to be uplifting and inspirational. I wanted to pass on the lessons I’ve learned from my own mistakes, and how I overcame them. I reached a point in my life where I felt like I just couldn’t go on anymore. All I did was get myself into bad situations, make poor choices for myself, and I wanted to end it all. It took two little lines to tell me that I have to find solid ground now or I’ll mess it all up for my little one. My journey to stability is far from over, but I have overcome many things along the way and have learned to roll with the twists and turns of life. One of my favorite quotes is one that I read a long time ago in high school- “Just like the lotus, we too have the ability to rise from the mud, bloom out of the darkness and radiate into the world.” – Unknown. This led me to the name- Rise and Blossom. I wanted my blog to feel light, natural and positive, and so flowers were a natural choice for me.

What is your college Alma Mater, your degree, and your career?
I attended West Texas A&M University (Go Buffs!) from 2013-2016. I was a Broadcast Journalism major up until I cracked and dropped out. I wasn’t sure what to do with myself after that, but now that I am a stay at home mom, I’ve chosen to devote what time I haven’t given to Tate to becoming a full-time blogger.

What is your passion? The one activity that you eat, sleep and breathe.
Art. Specifically photography. Once I get going with a camera I can’t stop, like it’s an addiction. I will scale buildings and lay in cow manure to get the shot. And I love learning new things to do on Photoshop. I could spend hours on the computer making the slightest adjustments until I love what I’ve made. My goal is to make a living by creating.

ALRIGHTY so here is a YUMTASTIC pasta that I LOVE (am I too excited?). So below are the ingredients and instructions for Chicken Tettrisini!
Chicken Tettrisini. Yum!
Ingredients
o   NO YOLKS Egg Noodles (1 bag)
o   Shredded cheese
o   Cream of mushroom (1 can)
o   Cream of chicken (1 can)
o   Sour cream (do a dollop!)
o   Chicken (I’m terrible at measuring meat, so I guess one whole pack?)
o   Butter
o   Salt, pepper, and Mrs. Dash Onion and Herbs
o   Tabasco sauce
o   Onion (optional)
Instructions
o   I like to boil the chicken in a large pot on the stove. I add about a tablespoon of butter. I have no idea if it does anything to add the butter but I feel better if I don’t skip it
o   Add salt, pepper, and Mrs. Dash to your liking
o   When chicken is done, take it out and shred it. I usually shred it with forks. Do not remove the water
o   Dump your noodles into the water to boil
o   Usually you would chop ¼ of an onion for this, but I ALWAYS forget, so if you remember do it! If not it wont ruin anything
o   When noodles are done, drain the water
o   Combine the chicken, onions, cream of mushroom, cream of chicken, sour cream (dollop!), cheese (to your cheesy likeness) and a bit of Tabasco sauce for some zing. If you like your food flaming, then add a lot!
o   Fill your bowl and proceed to tear it up
This is a dinner that I intentionally make too much of so I can eat three bowls in one sitting. Happiness ♥<3 nbsp="" p="">

What TV shows are you watching right now or what do you binge on Netflix?
My current favorites are:
Friends- A show I’ve been watching since 2005. I have two DVD sets of the complete series. Everything in life can be referenced to Friends. I am Friends.
Law & Order SVU- Olivia Benson is everything.
American Horror Story- I love all things horror, creepy, and twisted, and AHS fits the bill.
Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath- Scientology is fucked up, yo.

Do you have a family/relationship/kids/fur babies? Tell us about them!
I live with my boyfriend Jesse in our little home in Texas. He is a hardworking man who is sweet, funny and encouraging. I’m grateful for him every day.
We have a beautiful little girl named Tate, born in April 2017. She’s the spitting image of her father, and just so cute I can’t even stand it sometimes! She is learning and growing so fast, I wish I could stop time so I can keep her small just a little longer. I don’t know how I lived my whole life without her.
Family Photo! (Tate's here too!)
We also have to adorable fur babies. Coco is nine years old. We got her when she was a puppy and was supposed to be a teacup chihuahua, but she’s more like the whole kettle. She’s got a feisty personality and loves sleeping under blankets. Chunks we got as a puppy as well and is now a little over a year old. He's... some form of mutt. He’s cuddly and loves making friends with everyone. His favorite toys are bouncy balls.

What are the first 3 things you would grab from a house fire?
Tate, Coco and Chunks. Jesse is grown so I assume he can escape on his own.

What is the Top 5 most played songs on your playlist?
1.     The Cure- Lady Gaga. Honestly I could list any Lady Gaga song as my favorite, but this is my current fave.
2.     Hymn-Ke$ha
5.     No Scrubs- TLC

Tell us about the happiest moment thus far in your life.
The day Tate was born. I had to deliver her by C-section, and I was terrified. My boyfriend was there with me, holding my hand as they numbed me and prepped me for the cesarean. The operating room was chilly, and I was highly aware of the fact that my womanhood was out on display. They set up the screen, jabbed me to make sure I was good and numb, and proceeded to carve me like a turkey.
I did NOT want to think about the fact the my innards were being rummaged through, so I talked about all the food I wanted to eat with my boyfriend as the surgeon worked. After about fifteen minutes, I hear her say that she’s reached the baby. Jesse, who had sworn he didn’t want to see anything, leans over to watch as they removed the baby from my womb. At that moment, I’ve heard the most beautiful sound.
Tate's First Halloween 2017
Tate made the tiniest cry, and the I couldn’t believe that it was her, and she was finally here, alive and real. She wasn’t just the bump in my belly anymore. Jesse and I looked at each other, tears welling up in our eyes. Our whole world changed that April day, and while this new chapter has been trying, I do everything in my power to be the best mom I can be. She reminds me every day how happy I truly am, and life couldn’t be better.
