Ten Simple Ways To Create Happiness

As a stay at home mom, I am often tempted to spend entire days in my pajamas. Usually it's because I'm just so tired, and if I could, I would never leave my bed. But my Tater needs me, and I work on using every ounce of strength I have to make it through the day.
In order to be the best mother I can be, I work hard on bettering myself and overcoming my struggles. It's been a battle, but the victory is in the small things- waking early with no problems, doing all the things I planned to do. It feels great to be able to do life and not constantly feel dread.
There's no legendary secret on how to get yourself to get up and go. All it takes is a few small steps to make big changes in your mood, health, and daily life.

Wear Jeans

“Home is where the pants aren’t,” they say, and I agree. But when you’re lounging around in my lazy clothes, you feel just that- lazy. This is because we’re not wearing clothes that say “I’m ready!”

At the very least, a pair of jeans go a long way. Switching from sweatpants to real pants will get you in the “get shit done” mindset.

Brush Your Hair

We express ourselves through our hair. Messy hair means a messy life, low self esteem and low motivation. Forget styling for a minute- just run a brush or comb through the tangles. Smooth it out and see how it falls around your shoulders. You'll feel cleaner and more confident in yourself.

Drink Water

HYDRATE. The benefits are endless! Clear skin, more energy, helps weight loss, relieves headaches and cramps, and cleanses your system of toxins. Roughly eight ounces a day is recommended, but doing your best is what counts.

Find A Reason to Go Outside

Take a walk or work in the yard. Anything to get a little bit of sunshine. Not only does sunlight provide Vitamin D for your body, but it also just feels so warm and comforting. Enjoy the day and be thankful for who you are.

Follow A Makeup Tutorial

Mix things up and learn some new cosmetic tricks! Changing up your look can increase confidence. New look, new you. Here are some tutorials from my favorite vlogger NikkieTutorials.

Snack on More Fruits/Veggies

Eating junk is tempting, especially when you're eating your feelings. The downfall is that it can cause weight gain, gastrointestinal issues, fatigue, and a whole mess of more serious ailments as time goes on. Pick a few fruits and vegetables to snack on instead. They're fresher, healthier, and don't sit like a rock in your stomach. Hearing the crunch of a carrot can be very satisfying.

Spend Time With Pets

One of the greatest sources of unconditional love- household pets. Whether they be dogs or fish, cats or birds, our domesticated friends make great companions to talk to. Simply petting an animal has been shown to reduce heart rate and blood pressure. Your furry friend will love the attention, too.

Create Something

Art is probably the greatest expression. You don't have to be Picasso to label yourself an artist either. Doodle in a notebook or color in a coloring book. Pick out a project to try on Pinterest. If you're musical, try your hand at writing a song. Do something that gets you out of your reality, and make something you're proud of.

Turn Everything Off

No phone. No TV. No music. Fix yourself a cup of tea. Curl up on the couch with a cozy blanket and a good book. Open the window and let in the fresh air and sunshine. Don't worry about tomorrow. Enjoy where you are in that moment.

Breathe Deeply

No need to go full on meditation mode. Just take a deep breath wherever you are. Feel fresh air fill your lungs. Breathe out slowly, and close your eyes. Think about all you are grateful for. Go over your mantras. Remember not to take life so seriously. It'll be ok.
